Fly-fishing in British Columbia

Fishing for steelhead, bull trout and char in the lakes and rivers of BC

Some of my favorite fishing has been in beautiful British Columbia. I am a huge fan of BC and particularly Vancouver, which has big sky, green mountains and awesome seascapes. It also has terrific fishing for trout and salmon and I have been fortunate to make regular visits over the last twenty years to indulge my passion for fishing both species.

Fishing the lakes of Whistler

Often I use Whistler as my base as there are a number of nice fishing lakes in the vicinity. Green Lake on the Nicholas North golf community has some nice wading spots for rainbow trout and char. The local seaplane operation is based on this lake, with daily service to Vancouver.

A hidden gem is Lost Lake to the north of the town of Whistler. There are several spots where one can wade, such as off the sand beach. But a float tube gets you to more spots where the fish are hanging out.

Fishing the Squamish and Cheakamus Rivers with Valley Fishing Guides

I always book a few days on the Squamish River with Valley Fishing Guides. The Squamish is mid-way between Vancouver and Whistler and a fantastic fishery. The owner and head guide, Clint Goyette, has always put me on fish and treated me to my most memorable fishing experiences.

Fishing the Pink Salmon Run in British Columbia

Every odd year the pink salmon return to the area in great numbers, usually in August and September. I have waded into the waters off the Furry Creek Beach just north of Vancouver and hooked up on some fair sized salmon.

I am not being compensated by my mention of Valley Fishing Guides. I am simply a happy client.
